ABOUT THE AUTHOR WILLIAM CROSS
Will was educated in Scotland and at the Universities of London and Southampton. He went to live in London in the mid-1970s. After almost thirty years as a Civil Servant in London Will took early retirement in 2005 to concentrate on writing and research. Family ties brought him and his wife to Wales but Will commuted daily to London by train for several years.
After settling down in Newport, Gwent from 2005-09 Will took a Creative Writing Course at the University of Wales, at Newport ( now the University of South Wales ). This led to his involvement in various projects including acting as Assistant Stage Manager in four plays staged at the Riverfront Theatre, Newport, in 2006, as part of the inaugural season of the work of a Newport based group called Screwpacket Playwrights. The group was revived in 2014 to facilitate the re-staging of the musical The Forgotten, about the rise of Chartism in South Wales.WIll is the Author of five books featuring Almina, 5th Countess of Carnarvon of Highclere Castle ( the backdrop to TV's Downton Abbey) including " The Life and Secrets of Almina Carnarvon" , the ONLY full length biography of the Countess. He has also written ( or co-written ) three books on wayward members of the Morgan family of Tredegar House, Newport, including " Not Behind Lace Curtains : The hidden world of Evan, Viscount Tredegar" Will is a member of the Society of Authors and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.
